Artful parenting always strikes a balance between
pointing the way, and getting out of the way.
— Dr. Adam J. Cox, "Cracking the Boy Code"

Parenting boys, while fun and love-filled, can be messy, challenging and downright confusing. That confusion can be particularly overwhelming for moms, as many women aren’t born with an inherent understanding of boys.

As humans, we are naturally wired to connect more easily with those who behave and communicate the way we do.

Unfortunately, for many moms, boys and their behavior can feel foreign and confusing.

Add to that increasingly busy lifestyles and a mountain of responsibilities competing for your attention, and you have a recipe for frustration, overwhelm and exhaustion.

You want what’s best for your son, but you may feel like you haven’t learned the “secret code” to navigate the complex and ever-changing world of raising a boy.

Some of the challenges can seem insurmountable.

It may feel especially daunting when schools, day cares, and sports teams aren’t always structured to fit his active style, either.

It’s not easy. Maybe you’ve felt like these parents:

  • “My boy just won’t listen to me. I have to repeat myself constantly.”

  • “He is so smart, but he hates school. I don’t know how to help him.”

  • “I’m in an endless battle with the iPad for his attention.”

  • “I hate losing my temper with my son. This just isn’t who I am.”

  • “No matter what I do, he won’t talk to me.”

Fortunately, you can change what isn’t working.

It begins with recognizing that there is nothing wrong with our boys and they don’t need fixing.

We often try to mold boys into who WE want them to be, rather than giving them room to grow in their own brilliant way—in their own time.

Boys don’t need our perfection.
— Michael C. Reichert, PhD, author of How To Raise A Boy

When you can offer your son a secure, safe harbor, he will be able to grow into himself while resisting peer pressure and the cultural norms that are telling him to “man up.”

It is impossible to do this alone.

I’m here to help.

Get started on the journey to a more joyful and connected relationship with your son and learn how to support him in boy-friendly ways.
